Police Closing-In On Tompolo- IGP

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, on Friday, revealed that the police, under his watch, is doing everything to effect the arrest of the former militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo). The IGP promised that Tompolo would be arrested soon over the allegation of diversion of public funds made against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). It would be recalled that Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos had issued a warrant of arrest against Tompolo. The former militant leader, who is facing a 40-count charge, is being tried alongside the former Director General of Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Patrick Akpobolokemi, over alleged diversion of N45.9 billion in the execution of contracts. Speaking at the Police Headquarters in Ekiti State during a tour of the Command, the IGP said, “We are looking for Tompolo and my men are on his trail. We will arrest him anywhere we cite him.”
