Statement Destruction: Court Grants Metuh N300m Bail

Detained National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh was on Friday, granted bail in the sum of N300 million by the Federal Capital Territory High Court. The Court also directed Metuh to provide two sureties in the like sum. The PDP scribe is facing trial over the destruction of the statement he made to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). It would be recalled that Metuh was docked on a two-count charge for destroying his confessional statement. A part of the charge reads: “Olisa Metuh on the 5th day of January 2016 in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory destroyed a document, to wit: a statement made under caution to investigators/operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on the 5th of January 2016, with the intention of preventing the same from being produced or used as evidence in a court of law.”
