An exit poll on Thursday has predicted that Britain’s Labour Party is set to win a massive majority in the UK parliamentary election.Meanwhile, the Conservatives are projected to win just 131 seats, compared to 365 in the 2019 vote, which could be the party’s lowest seat total in its history, according to Sky news. The survey for UK broadcasters suggested centre-left Labour would win 410 seats in the 650-seat House of Commons, with the Tories (Conservatives) managing only 131.Under Britain’s first-past-the-post electoral system, a party needs 326 seats to win an overall majority in parliament. The winner is expected to meet head of state King Charles III, who will ask the leader of the largest party to form a government.Confirmation of the result would cap a remarkable rise to power for 61 year old Keir Starmer, a former human rights lawyer and chief public prosecutor, who was first elected as a member of parliament in 2015.
