One of the 15-year specific targets based on the United Nations adoption of Sustainable Development Goals is to shift its focus on education. The framework to achieve such actions in the global education goal has been adopted. Therefore, UNESCO is calling out to every stakeholder; governments, donors, civil society and teachers to take action and do what is needed on their part. The teachers are the central drivers to the actualization of these goals. As much as the people count on them to deliver quality education, the values they pass on is essential to promote and sustain global citizenship, gender equality, dignity and justice for all.To this end, UNESCO is urging teachers’ worldwide to join the sign-up campaign launched on 2015 World Teachers’ Day, 5th of October, by UNESCO, Education for All Global Monitoring Report (EFA GMR) and Education International (EI).Teachers who sign up will receive advocacy toolkits, and country specific information to help them input such change in their country. This toolkit is going to be updated by the Education for All Global Monitoring Report team in 2016, so teachers are warmly invited to give their opinion on the toolkit and on how teachers advocating for change in their country can be better supported.
