Today’s Message: Having Great Integrity

TOPIC: LET YOUR INTEGRITY BE INTACTMeditation:

“Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 2:11)

Today’s text: Ecclesiastes 2:1-11

Can a man catch wind? You can’t hold on to the wind. In the same way no one is able to hold unto riches. Solomon looked at every aspect of life and saw no contentment.

None of his riches gave him satisfaction. I am sure close to the end, he may have looked back at all the things he had accumulated and wondered how satisfactory they had been and who he would hand them over to.

One old man walked round his many possessions and tears flowed from his eyes. These were things he had lived for, things he spent his entire life scheming, defrauding and hurting others for.

Now, frail at eighty and the grave in sight, he did not know what to do with them. He had told lies, cheated others to get those things only to realize later they were not worth all the troubles. He was leaving all behind. We must ask God to give us the spirit of contentment.

Be thankful to God at any level you find yourself. Ask Him for provision and He will give you. The path of the righteous gets brighter and brighter, but don’t try to put the light there yourself.

It will be no use because that light is not of God. Ecclesiastes 2:26 says, “For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give him that is good before God.

This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.” God has given us wisdom and knowledge to know when to say no; of wisdom to know what is of eternal value, wisdom to know what to die for. It is sheer vanity to spend life struggling and gathering in vain, acquiring all and not knowing in whose hands they would end up. This is vanity, a striving after the wind.

Maintain integrity as a Christian. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and take whatever He adds unto you. Be happy and contented. The rich and poor will meet together and they will all have to give account to the Lord one day.

Prayers:

1 .Ask God to give you the spirit of contentment

2. Ask Him to help you maintain integrity as a Christian.

Confession:

O Lord Jesus, if in this life only I have hope, I am of all men most miserable. I choose to live a life that is worthy and blameless.

“I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?”
